Instagram is my favorite social media platform. Over 50% of people who book a photo shoot with me found me on Instagram. I have found that these 5 free apps have helped me maintain a consistent and visually appealing profile that grabs the attention of followers. These apps are great tools that can help you save time on the look of your profile so you can spend more time engaging with followers.
1. For Editing: VSCO
How it works: VSCO (fun fact: stands for Visual Supply Company) is a great app for editing photos on-the-go on your phone. The app comes with multiple free presets you can use to edit your photos. There are filters you can pay for in the "store" feature of the app as well. VSCO is my favorite app to edit photos with, and they even make presets for Lightroom as well! This is what I use to edit my photos on my desktop.
2. For Your Bio: Linktree
Instagram only lets you have one link in your biography. Linktree is a website (not an app, woops!) that helps you create one Instagram bio link that contains all of the links you would like people to see. So when people click on the link in your bio, they see multiple links to choose from.
3. For Planning Posts: Preview
Forget the days of posting a picture really quickly to see if it looks good with your feed and then deleting it so no one sees. Preview lets you plan out your future Instagram posts and helps you see if it will go with the posts you have already published. Published photos have a tiny little Instagram logo in the bottom left corner (I circled one. in black). Photos that you can move around and adjust are above the published photos. You can also plan out your captions and hashtags, schedule posts and copy to post straight to Instagram from Preview. Pretty neat.
4. For Instagram Stories: Unfold
Unfold lets you create collages for your photos to post to your Instagram story. The app has multiple different templates you can use to create eye-catching stories that grab attention from followers.
5. For Instagram Story Highlights: Canva
Canva is a website and an app that is user-friendly and allows you to easily create great graphic designs. You can create Instagram story highlights with the Canva app. Instagram story highlights add an additional touch of your own branding to your profile.
Preview (the planning app I mentioned) actually has a helpful step-by-step guide on how to make them if you need help: https://thepreviewapp.com/how-to-make-beautiful-insta-story-highlight-covers-custom-icons/
